MacWrench ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our macOS application and website (macwrench.app).

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you sign in with Apple, we receive:

  • Your name (first name only, as provided by Apple)
  • Your email address (or Apple's private relay email if you choose to hide your email)
  • A unique user identifier

We do not receive your Apple ID password. Authentication is handled entirely by Apple.

2.2 Subscription & Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe through RevenueCat. We do not store or have access to your credit card numbers or payment details. RevenueCat and Stripe handle all billing securely. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status (active, expired, or cancelled).

2.3 Application Data

MacWrench scans your Mac locally to provide its features. This includes:

  • List of installed applications and their versions
  • Installed Homebrew formulae and casks
  • System cache and temporary file sizes (for the Cleaner feature)

This data stays on your device. We do not upload, transmit, or store your application list, Homebrew packages, or system scan results on any server.

2.4 Network Requests

MacWrench makes the following network requests to provide its functionality:

  • Apple iTunes API — to check for app updates available on the App Store
  • Sparkle appcast feeds — to detect updates for third-party apps that use Sparkle
  • Homebrew — to check for package updates via the brew CLI
  • RevenueCat — to verify your subscription status
  • GitHub — to fetch release notes for Homebrew packages

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect to:

  • Authenticate your account and manage your subscription
  • Provide customer support when you contact us
  • Send transactional emails related to your subscription (e.g., renewal receipts)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your account information is stored securely by our payment processors (RevenueCat and Stripe), both of which are PCI DSS compliant. On your device, MacWrench stores preferences and cached data using macOS SwiftData, which remains local to your machine.

We do not operate our own backend servers. Authentication is handled by Apple, and billing is handled by RevenueCat/Stripe.

We retain your account information (email and name) for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription and request account deletion, we will delete your information within 30 days. Subscription transaction records may be retained by Stripe and RevenueCat in accordance with their own retention policies and legal requirements.

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time by uninstalling the app and contacting us

8. Children's Privacy

MacWrench is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Analytics & Tracking

MacWrench does not include any analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, or advertising frameworks. We do not track your usage behavior, and we do not serve ads.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
